Orange Bay & Giftun Island

Getting there

The Giftun islands lie a short boat ride off Hurghada, usually under an hour depending on the boat and where it leaves from. They're part of a protected area, so boats use fixed moorings and a park entry fee may apply. Each tour's "Not included" list says whether you pay it separately.

A typical day

Most trips leave in the morning, stop at one or two reefs for snorkeling, then spend time at the beach before heading back in the afternoon. Near the shore the water at Orange Bay is shallow and calm, which suits children and non-swimmers; the reef stops are deeper, so life jackets are a good idea there.
